Why is a charger operating at low power when there is spare electrical capacity?

if you find that a charger is delivering lower than expected power, even though the site appears to have spare electrical capacity for allocation, there can be multiple causes since charging power is constrained by multiple layers. Available site capacity for allocation does not always equal available charger capacity.

There are a few common causes,

1. Vehicle-Limited Charging

The vehicle’s Battery Management System (BMS) is requesting reduced power, which is common during high state of charge (SoC), Cold or hot battery conditions and battery balancing phases.
To verify, check: Reporting of “Charging Sessions” and “Vehicle Charging Summary”

2. Charger Hardware Limits

Charger may be operating below nominal power due to temperature derating, internal module faults, shared power cabinet limitations.
To verify, check: Error codes in BetterFleet incidents page, charger portal

It is recommended to continue monitoring and only escalates if the issue persists or if any abnormality in charger operations is present.

If the issue persists, please provide any additional details so we can better assist you.
