Step 1. Ensure the charger is powered on, then tap the screen on the charger and check if there is a green dot in the top right corner of the screen. If there is a green dot, please go to Step 2.

If there is no green dot, please carry out the following steps:

  1. Wait a few minutes and see if the connection restores

  2. Try a remote restart through the BetterFleet interface

  3. If charging is urgent, see override action below,

  4. if not urgent continue connecting other buses and return to charger.

Step 2. Plug in one or both connectors into the charge sockets of the bus

Step 3. Press ‘Start’ on the charger screen

Step 4. The screen will shortly display ‘Queueing’, after a short while charging begins and the charger screen will then display the current charge activity

Other AC/DC chargers

Step 1. Plug in one or both connectors into the charge sockets of the bus

Step 2. Start the charging session by plugging in the connector to the bus - no other action is required. The screen will confirm authorisation and charging will begin - the screen will display the current charge activity

If charging does not begin on a BYD charger and ‘Queueing’ message remains on the screen for longer than 30s, please restart the process. If the charger still does start charging, you may need to use an alternate charger.

Override action: When to use RFID cards:
If you experience any of the issues below on a BYD charger, in emergency scenarios it may be necessary to initiate the session with an RFID card. However, charging started via RFID does not send any data to BetterFleet and this should only be used when there are no alternative chargers available.*

  • Charger screen is stuck in the ‘Calibrate Screen’ message
  • Set Fail error message appears and cannot be pressed
  • ‘Start’ button’ does not show or cannot be pressed on charger screen

* Highlight any charger that has any other technical issue to the Engineering Manager as soon as possible
